Seafarers and fishers play a crucial role in our lives, yet they often work under difficult and hazardous conditions. The number of crews abandoned by their employers remains at a record high. Ongoing global conflicts are compromising the safety of seafarers, which can lead to increased stress and poor mental health.
Stella Maris, formerly known as the Apostleship of the Sea, is the maritime agency of the Catholic Church. Its team of chaplains provides practical assistance and pastoral care to seafarers and fishers both in the UK and around the world. We are invited to support seafarers and fishers, ensuring they always have a friend in port to turn to in times of need.
Sea Sunday, on 13 July, is a day when the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. Your support can make a significant difference to seafarers and fishers in need. You can donate:
- in our church during a special collection next Sunday,
- by visiting www.stellamaris.org.uk/donate,
- by texting ‘SEA’ to 70460 to make a £5 donation.
This collection is essential for Stella Maris to continue its important work, so please give generously.
