Our History

In 1965, Westhill was a quiet, rural hamlet consisting of just 25 houses. Shortly thereafter, it entered a period of rapid growth and expansion, transforming into the bustling town it is today. A Catholic community has been present in Westhill since at least 1974. Initially, we were part of the Cathedral Parish, and Catholics in this area had to travel to the Cathedral in Aberdeen City Centre for Mass.

However, as the Catholic population began to grow, changes started to occur in 1977. From January of that year, we held Mass once a month in Ashdale Hall, a portacabin-style building located on the site of the current Ashdale Hall near Trinity Church.

On December 1, 1979, during the Vigil of the First Sunday of Advent, we began gathering weekly for Vigil Mass at Westhill Primary School. This weekly Mass continued there until Trinity Church was opened in 1981, and we have been at Trinity ever since.
