Annual Diocesan Pilgrimage

Sunday, 30 June 2024, the Solemnity of Saint Peter & Saint Paul. Arrangements for this Annual Diocesan event are well underway, and we look forward to another enjoyable day, which will be attended by parishioners, clergy, and religious people coming together from all corners of the Diocese to celebrate the occasion.  The event provides a perfect opportunity for relaxing on the grounds of this prayerful setting and to meet people from other parishes.  This year, we focus on the importance of the Word of God in our lives, as celebrated in the sacred scriptures.  This year’s theme, “Unrolling the Scroll” – The Ministry of Proclaiming God’s Word, has been carefully chosen, and all readers are asked to attend this event.

At the conclusion of the Mass, which will be led by Bishop Hugh Gilbert, there will be a Marian procession to the garden in front of St Benedict’s Retreat, weather permitting. We look forward to the participation of a good number of parishes in the day’s liturgy, particularly in the singing and readings of the Mass and also during the procession into the garden. The programme for the day will be as follows:

  • 13:00 – Exposition in the Lady Chapel until 14:30
  • 13:00 – Individual confessions in the parlours at St Benedict’s Retreat until 14:30
  • 15:00 – Principal Mass of the day followed by a Marian procession to the garden facing St Benedict’s Retreat, accompanied by hymns and devotions.

Walking Pilgrimage
